TPR Eases off the Employer
This year’s TPR statement on funding issued on 8 May 2013 is noticeably weaker than last year’s. The table below contrasts some subtle changes of wording which shows a softer approach on both assumption setting and agreeing recovery plans. In addition, TPR is updating its regulatory approach to move away from mechanical triggers (such as the level of technical provisions and the length of recovery plans) instead focusing on issues such as deterioration in covenant strength, the shape of recovery plans and the investment performance assumed in the recovery plan.

Goddard Perry Actuarial llp, part of the employee benefit group, Goddard Perry, is delighted to announce the appointment of Rebecca Morgan as Scheme Actuary. Rebecca joins from Punter Southall where she worked for 16 years as a senior consultant and head of contracting-out and state pension research. She has extensive experience advising both trustees and sponsors of occupational pension schemes. This marks the continuing growth of the actuarial practice based on the steady acquisition of new clients and an all-in-one offering of valuations on demand and asset/liability management using technology that has leapfrogged that of most consulting firms in the market.

Third-party Administrator, HS Administrative Services Ltd, have appointed Steve Mathews as National Sales Manager. Steve has over 20 years experience in the UK pensions industry and was previously Senior Sales Manager at Mercer and previously Aon Hewitt.
